What Is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is an alternative treatment for shaving and waxing. This non-invasive and non-surgical treatment uses concentrated light energy to heat the hair follicles which damages them and puts them in a state of dormancy. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.
A typical laser hair removal treatment takes less than an hour, depending on the area of the body that is being treated. Patients generally need 8 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. During the treatment series, the hair will thin and become finer in texture. It will eventually stop regrowing, leaving the client hair-free. Common areas of treatment include the back, bikini area, buttocks, legs, face, chest, underarms, and arms.
Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?
The short answer to this question is yes, however, this answer requires some commitment on the part of the client. The FDA has cleared laser hair removal treatments for permanent hair removal. The key is that each client needs to be dedicated to the full series of treatments in order to achieve the best results. This treatment series includes approximately 8 treatments which will be spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Because hair follicles will eventually heal after a long period of time, it is possible to see some hair regrowth. Regrowth will be finer, lighter, and fewer in number. For this reason, patients will also need to commit to occasional maintenance sessions once or twice each year to keep the results permanent.
Many people are choosing laser hair removal because the treatments are convenient (less than an hour each), results can be seen after the very first treatment, and the treatments are comfortable and efficient. Add in the fact that the treatments require no downtime and the result are permanent, we believe that our clients will be very happy with the laser hair removal options that we offer.
