What is the PRP Procedure Like?
For the Vampire Facelift, your Skinatomy clinician will extract a small amount of your blood and then process it to extract PRP. Before your treatment, they will apply a topical anesthetic (like lidocaine) to the treatment area. You will then receive microneedling treatment. During this procedure, your clinician applies a handheld device to your skin. The very fine needles in the device create micro-injuries in your skin. This process encourages your skin to heal by producing more collagen and elastin. The platelet-rich plasma will be applied to your face during and after microneedling, further speeding up the healing process.
For the purpose of hair restoration, the platelet-rich plasma is combined with growth-activating serums. Your clinician will inject these into your scalp in the areas where hair has been lost. Typically, you will receive a monthly injection for three subsequent months. After this, you will have a follow-up treatment every three or four months for the next two years.
What Results Can I Expect From PRP Therapy?
You will notice softer, smoother skin and fewer wrinkles after just one treatment. The results will continue to improve with each additional session. Platelet-rich plasma therapy can also improve the appearance of acne scars after multiple treatments.
Platelet-rich plasma hair restoration is especially effective when used for thinning areas, receding hairlines, and patches of baldness. Once the PRP has been injected into your scalp, you may begin to notice that new hairs are growing in those previously affected areas. This can take several weeks to months depending on the severity of your hair loss.
