It is comprised of deoxycholic acid in a synthetic form, which freezes membranes on fat cells so that the fat can be naturally released. This substance has been approved by Health Canada for cosmetic clinical use and is considered to be a viable option to a surgical chin lift.
Deoxycholic acid in its natural form is found inside the body and it naturally absorbs fat. When the synthetic form of deoxycholic acid is injected in the area below the chin it freezes the fat cells there and provides a rejuvenated, defined, and slim contoured look to the chin area.

A local or topical analgesic is applied so that you can remain comfortable during the treatment. The injections will then be applied along a transparent grid that is placed on your chin. The process can be completed fairly quickly and you may require 2 to 6 sessions – depending on the amount of subcutaneous fat that needs to be addressed.
You should begin to see results about one month after your treatment; final results will depend on the number of treatments you need to undergo.
This is a gentle procedure that allows you to immediately return to your day-to-day activities, but in some cases, you may experience mild swelling, bruising and redness. If any discomfort is felt following the procedure, and to help reduce swelling, you may apply a cold pack to your chin for approximately 10 minutes. While it may be possible to hide any bruising and redness with makeup, it may be best to schedule your session close to a weekend if you are at all concerned about your appearance.
