Laser hair removal has become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in North America. It uses highly-concentrated beams of light that convert into heat and penetrate into the follicles of the hair. These hair follicles are removed as a result, leaving your skin soft and smooth.
At Skinatomy Laser Clinic, we use 3 different lasers for hair removal:
Candela Gentle YAG
The Gentle Yag laser system effectively treats various cosmetic skin issues including hair removal and spider veins on the legs or face. It is also a new and exciting treatment for neck and facial skin tightening. This system removes unwanted hair without causing any damage to the structure of the skin or its delicate pores and is suitable for all skin types.
LightSheer Diode Laser
The Lightsheer laser targets the hair root and damages it, leaving behind only a small stem. During the next 2 to 3 weeks the skin pushes this stem up to the surface where it is released. Your next appointment should be scheduled in 6-8 weeks based on the hair growth cycle. It is best to treat the hair when it has a full root during its active anagen stage, which is why more than one treatment is necessary.
Sciton ClearScan YAG
The ClearScan laser uses an automated system that can treat a number of hairs at the same time. This is an optimum treatment method when large areas are being targeted. The scanning system provides an even treatment across the skin and it is a gentle, effective and safe procedure that can be used on any type of skin.

You’re a candidate for laser hair removal if you have excess hair on common treatment areas like the back, legs, bikini line, armpits, face, chest, and more.
The treatment length depends on the area that’s being treated; most sessions last between 30 minutes to an hour.
You’ll usually see your hair follicles start to fall out within the first couple of weeks after your procedure. The hair will regrow until your next treatment; the follicles will continue to fall out, and regrowth will slow until it stops.
There’s no downtime, but following the treatment, your skin may be red for 1-5 hours. You must wear a Medical SPF to protect your skin.
