An Overview of Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin which work to replace the lost volume, to smooth wrinkles, plump lips, and soften lines. Most dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. Hyaluronic acid helps the skin to absorb water, which makes the skin look brighter, firmer, and more hydrated.
How Long Do They Last?
Depending on the type of dermal filler you use and the area that is being treated, they can last anywhere from 6 months to 5 years. As a general rule, thinner gels are used in lips and last a shorter amount of time. Thicker gels are used in cheeks and tend to last a longer amount of time. There are many lines of dermal fillers in use including Juvederm, Restylane, Stylage, Bellafill, and Teosyal. Your skincare experts will help you decide which one is best suited for your needs, but we will look at the Juvederm line for a quick comparison of their longevity.
